For those at home over the weekend a early morning wintery scene to ponder where it is if they wish.

Although I took the photo some years ago I think not much has changed and should be easy as I am sure many have been there. Several forumites live there so maybe they could refrain for a while.

Certainly Stockholm, a beautiful city.

I had just noted it as "Strandvagen Area" in my notes at the time but believe that Brendan's "Skeppsholmen" is the exact place 'cos I do recall that it was taken close to where the 3 masted sailing ship is and I think that is at Skeppsholmen.

Wonder if anyone knows the name of the domed building, I don't so just my personal interest?

Skeppsholmskyrkan (Skeppsholms Church, also known as, Karl Johan's church

I love Stockholm, last went there on a holiday 2 years ago, and did the trip to Drottingholm by boat yet again (which is why I refrained from posting until I got home this evening, as the dome and the high sided building in front rang bells, but I wasn't entirely sure until I checked).

There is an indoor market in Stockholm, that sells perfect looking vegetables like carrots in small numbers, like 2 or 3, in designer brown paper bags - they also serve smoked salmon in the restaurant there in the way I like it - a plate heaped high!

The central square there used to have table tennis tables and outdoor chess pieces. One of the few places in the world that you can leave the balls and bats on the tables and find them still there in the morning. And one of the few capital cities in the world where after an afternoons shopping, you can go for a quick dip in the nearby water to cool off!

About time you posted some pics of the Icelandic and nordic areas you've been! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Maybe even a few 'where is this' type

PS. yes the three masted ship is a landmark there. Will see if I can dig out some old (1980's) and more recent pics of the area, especially some taken from the communications tower observation deck which give great overview of the area - but they are not on computer, probably up in attic.

Thanks Brendan.

Nice breakfasts too, especially pickled herrings - is a bit cool for swimming for me (that applies for me in NZ too!). Is a very pretty city so a couple more water type photos including the saily ship (just quick scans off colour reversals so ship colour balance is a bit up the pole).

Would also enjoy seeing some Iceland photo's Thrall if possible.
