This is a lovely small mainland coastal town near Sibenik which has a good anchorage, albeit open to the south-west so a bit rolly at times. However, if there is room to tuck in behind the small jetty, it's more sheltered.

Every May they have a religious festival during which the locals attempt to set the town on fire. We've been several times over the years and it's still standing but one day I'm sure it will all go horribly wrong. Health and safety doesn't seem to have yet made its presence felt. :encouragement:

Here's a photo I took last month. We had walked down that path to get to the harbour and were nicely tanned by the time we had run the gauntlet.

Has anyone ever seen anything quite like it .... and can you work out where it is. :)

Sounds like Primošten, where fires are lit on the eve of the festival of the Blessed Lady of Loreta.

Spot on. :)

Must be 100 fires lit in Primosten on the night of the 9th May every year. I believe that the holy day is actually the 10th May.

A couple of years ago a massive monument to the Virgin Mary (Loreta) with baby Jesus was erected on a high hill overlooking the town. It's apparently one of the largest Mary monuments in the world and is visible for miles out at sea. The other side of the hill from Primosten is our marina so we can always find our way home. :)

I also took these last month.

The monument, which is stunning in the sunlight:

and Primosten way below, with Sibenik in the far distance.
