Good morning, everyone. Just seen henryf's post...
Lin and i made the decision to sell Play d'eau back in the summer. Very much a tussle between the head and the heart. We wrote about it on our website: The ensign is lowered | Play d'eau
Having placed her with David Miles of Fleming Yachts Europe, yes, there was a sea-trial on Monday and now there's a survey booked for 7th Oct.
Radar? Yes, it's a 6' 6" scanner feeding a commercial Furuno 2117 black box. Simply stunning.
The horns? A dual Kahlenberg (of course!) with projectors especially fabricated for Play d'eau which produce a truly magnificent blast.
The name? Some of you may know its origins. At one stage we owned a Cougar Predator 35, made by the Curtis racing family. Long, narrow, low in the water, and very fast. We called her L'eau Profile. When upgrading, Lin and I with our four (then young) sons all in bed one Sunday morning having morning teas and coffees, were trying to think of a name for the new boat. We wanted to keep the play on the French for water. Suddenly, our youngest. Toby, piped up and said, 'it's obvious. It's Dad's new toy. It has to be Play d'eau.
So, with the sale of Play d'eau, we're coming to the end of an era. A great 33 year era in which we've had such fun. We bough our Fleming new in 2003, so after 18 years of ownership I know every inch of her.
Next month's issue of MBY (November) will publish our boating swan song. What more can I say?

As your chapter was closing Piers another was opening for us. Just wrestling with a few decisions at the moment....
The boat looked really good, I can imagine it's new potential owners are deservedly excited. Fingers crossed for the start of October.

It was our great pleasure to go on a couple of MBM cruises with you and your family. A lot of the details have been lost in the mists of time but we still remember (and regale others with it) your sign-off at the end of the cruise. "Thank you for cruising with us and have a safe onward journey".

I had a good chat with Fairline at the Southampton show. Don’t forget I’ve owned 2 Fairlines in the past.
For now the 53 flybridge is just too small inside for us I’m afraid. This time next year though there will be a new 55 which might bring them up to speed again in the same way the Manhattan 52 did for Sunseeker and in that case it was like someone popping open a cork.
