....well I'm knackered, hands are cut to shreds, legs and back ache, crispy dry skin from "products" but phase 1 done; just to antifoul next w/e now. One piccie attached is as she came out and the other is as we left her this evening. Progress!

What products and technique did you use to get that finish in one w/e?

We've unstintingly used 3M products since we have owned the boat (2004); she's a 1995 boat so don't know the pre-history. We've got the gelcoat in good order now so we've only applied polish and wax to achieve the effect that you see. I do believe that the year on year consistency is important. We have previously machine polished but this year it's been manually worked. Antifoul is Seajet Emporer; the only colour-stable white which we've found.

I opened the two tins of 'Navy Blue' Seago af today only to discover the stuff inside was grey.:(
Used one of them mixed with Navy left over from last year for first coat, but will return and hopefully swap the other tin tomorrow.
Think someone at Seago is colour blind!

Great job you've done, not keen on the width of your cradle base!

Problem in many yards is that the cradles are made to fit between the wheels of the lift. My own cheapskate cradle built from scaffolding poles was cut to fit in our club lifter - they widened the lifter after I'd built it, damn!

There was a page of sketches in PBO some years back suggesting ways of effectively widening the cradle. One of the neatest was to put the keel down onto a crossmember and then strap down from the gunwhales or even the masthead to the ends of the beam. Some commercial yards probably wouldn't allow this though.
