Over the past few years I have taken a boat down to the Bournemouth Airshow and many on here have enjoyed the pictures I take. This year was no exception and I took my rib down and anchored off the beach. Here are a selection from the day. I decided not to post earlier in deference to the events at Shoreham on the same day.

Wow!

Thanks for posting those - stunning images given the speeds involved :encouragement:

Wow. Taken from a RIB bobbing about they are properly good pics. I might just cut and paste to replace from the substandard pics I took from our RIB and claim as my own to mates (joking of course!)

Wow David what outstanding pictures. Many thanks.
I didn't know any vulcans were still flying. I've passed and always noticed the non flying one in Southend airport many times while driving to Essex boatyards.

It is the last year that the Vulcan will fly. The airframe has reached it sell by date and the cost of maintaining it is just too high. Seeing it perform at Bournemouth on the Saturday was a bonus as it was only scheduled to do a fly past on its way from Shoreham to Dawlish.

Nice photos. We watched it from the cliffs on Sunday - being in a boat looked an ideal vantage point.

The Sea Vixen has a dirty bottom!! :)

Great pics, what shutter speed to capture stationary props?

Thanks. To give you an idea of tech. data . I use a Nikon 300S with a Nikor 70-300 VR lens. The pic of the Spitfire was taken at F5.6 at 1/1600 at 400 ISO. I use spot metering. I would like to get more movement into the props, but shooting from a rib in lumpy seas at anchor does mean that speed is rather more essential.

David'. Thank goodness I was waiting for these. Many thanks indeed for excellent shots.

I wondered about the Vulcan myself and had a half plan to do Eastbourne the week before - still in hope we get a show at Goodwood Revival . Then as you say that's it as far as airworthiness is concerned.

A few more Mike.
