I've got one. Original plan was to plumb it into a grand (and overcomplicated) engine-fluid-emptying system to avoid running coolant or water into the bilge. Practicality intervened on that one, but it's still been useful for clearing small amounts of bilgewater that the main pump doesn't reach, and priming the raw water system since there isn't enough height above the strainer to tip a jug into it.

It's clearly cheaply made, and pumping capacity is limited, but for the money it's fair value.

Problem with any cheapo machine is that when you get frightened and energetic---------it breaks...
So, OK for oil change but not to be relied upon in emergencies.

Just picking up this thread...
Prompted by the recent chat about using old diesel, I think I'd better polish my fuel which has been sat in the tank since last year.
So, of the different types of cheap hand pump/syphon available, should I get:

or

or the one at the start of this thread:

I was on a charter yacht recently in which the manual bilge pump in the cockpit had a split diaphram and was useless. Dunno if it had been subjected to any panic activation...

Got exactly the same pump. Excellent for pumping bilges but trouble is you need three hands! One to hold the pump, one to do the pumping and the third to hold the tube under the water. If you don't hold it under it curls up. Very frustrating.
