Inherited an ancient Simrad CP33 chart plotter complete with a chart card.
Contact two dealers regards changing the chart by reprogramming my existing card to my home area.

Visit first dealer in person, who suggests that I might like to buy a new plotter as he cannot upgrade my old chart card , however he can order in a new card with a new chart for £118.00.

Onto ebay where another dealer asks me to post old card which he will upgrade to the chart I need for the princely sum of just over £55.00 inc P&P. !

New chart on its way at the moment !
Still not sure what the other chandler was up to, either trying to make few bob from what he assumed must be a minted customer, was sporting my Timex purchased from watch specialist "Argos" and wearing my third best " Aldi " boat shoes at the time , or he simply could not be arsed to sort out a simple reprogramme.

I suspect the answer is more along the lines of "Didn't have the right tools or any idea how to do it", hence the option of a new card.

My loveley ancient Lorenz panoramic sun plotter started to play up. Could not scroll in .
Diagnosed duff chip noticed ver d gris on some contacts .
Priced up and investigated a new one ,garmin , raymarine etc --- all over my head the various sales pitch etc .
Took the old chip out to an EN run Admiralty shop in Antibes .Asked for a new one -SoF ,Liguria ,Corsica .
The girl was a bit defeated by the IT side ,whole thing, done on a lap top , in the end manager and shop owner 1 hr 20 mins later managed to some how down load the data damn a new chip. Print our a sticker. Find a box .
We arrived @ 10 to 12 . burnt up most of there 2 hr lunch close time .
I was wearing ,adopted the Opersite strategy to OG -- Prada sandles. Cartier watch ,Slamm shorts. Raybans wayfarers ..
They could not download the € 200 part of the Med ( top L corner ) --only the €500 WHOLE med inc N Africa .
They charged me for the part € 200 and joked "you can go any where now ! "

Know what ? -- it works and is great. Some new stuff like time to target and distance to target as well as speed etc .
Dought wether I need to zoom in on Istanbul but I can if I want to see inside the marina .

I don,t fancy changing it cos as the name implys it clear in direct sunlight ,where as the Furuno plotter in previous boat ,like an I pad was useless in the sun .

H,mm ...... but what colour socks ?
LOL
Suntanned feet -- + manicured toe nails .

We get a lot of cruise ships tipping out Americans -- over the years by observation I have figured out what not to wear thanks

Any how thankfully I can cease looking @ baffling Nav gear sites
