Dear Berth Holder,
Further to Boris Johnson’s address to the nation on Sunday night when he advised that from tomorrow, Wednesday 13th May, he was relaxing lockdown measures to include spending more time outside and the ability to travel to an outdoor open space irrespective of distance, we can now update you on access changes to Sutton Marina and King Point Marina.
From tomorrow, you may come to the marina to visit your boat to make checks and undertake general maintenance. We ask you to maintain social distancing, observing the 2 metre rule, and continue to adhere to hygiene guidelines.
Current Government Guidance does not allow you to leave your home to stay at another, be this for a period of holiday or other purpose, this sadly includes staying overnight aboard your boat. If you travel to the marina you should return to your home at the end of the day.
Our priority remains to keep our customers, staff and the wider community safe. Many measures that the UK Government has previously announced are still in force so our reception office, toilets, showers, laundry and fuel facilities remain closed at this time. Our office is contactable from 8am to 6pm daily, we can be reached by phone 01752 204702 or email marina@sutton-harbour.co.uk and the berthing team remains on site daily adhering to relevant safety protocols.
From Wednesday, contractors may attend the marina to undertake any maintenance or repair work aboard your vessel. All contractors will be expected to follow UK Government Guidance with respect to travelling to the marina, observing social distancing and adhering to hygiene guidelines.
Whilst UK Government advice is unclear, it is understood from a conversation with Plymouth Longroom Port Control Station that boat owners heading out to sea for leisure purposes will not be stopped from accessing Plymouth Sound, providing you are acting responsibly. Any sailing activity will still need to be alone or with members of a single household and social distancing must be followed at all times.
It has been a challenging few months for everyone. May we take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and understanding and look forward to better times. We will continue to update you on any changes as we receive further guidance from the Government or other authorities.
Our best regards
The Marina Team
