A solo-sailing woman (video)

I am now the firm believer that everyone who spends time on board a boat, both women and men, should know how to sail it alone if needed. I learned the hard way. I've just posted a video on my blog about a typical day at sea, sailing alone.

That is so inspiring. I'd like to think I would keep our boat if anything happened to my Husband, but my kids are still young and I sometimes wonder how we'd manage to keep sailing until they were old enough to not always need another person on board.

One of the really nice things in the video is the idea that things don't have to be "perfect". It's OK for things not to go 100% right all the time, and that it's possible to learn as you are doing it.

I agree wholeheartedly. You don't even have to go far. Mind you the greek islands are a bit nicer than the Solent. Nice to know you don't have to stop when your skipper passes on. Wish I could paint too.

Really nice video Aquarella. Can I send my wife to spend a week with you to see if you could show her how to sail and paint?

Impressive . You just have to keep on doing things . Particularly those you like doing . Never give up

I really enjoyed the video. I reckon it's a great achievement just making it, editing it and uploading it. As for servicing the winches, there are videos on YouTube that can take you through the process step by step. In practice, winch servicing is pretty straight forward and I don't think you'll have any problems.

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Good tip about finding an instructional video for servicing winches. I found one here http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OqCunPhQHw4
