A shiny new...

Ah, and so my plan has been uncovered at last.

You're right, Tudor, I only set out around Britain to earn fame enough to start my new online grocery venture.

Onkudu.com - where good old fashioned value meets its demise.

I think my slogan is on to a winner!

So, now it's out. I'm looking for a backer, any takers?

I've got half a dozen slightly deformed potatoes you can have... should set you off on a good footing....

Prince albert potatoes? A piercingly delightful flavour, and great with sausage.

I know I know, I keep trying to reach those very standards, it's just that one is not used to sinking that low /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nathan,

How are your plans shaping up for the circumnavigation? How far do you think you will get before the autumn?

Has this experienced changed your thinking on the Jester?

Haha, yes, totally. It's made me want to do it more, I want to experience blue water, but doing this has taught me that I need to be 100% happy with the boat. When she goes back in the water after this refit, she will be a solid base to build an ocean going boat upon, but she's not that yet, and to get her to that state will require a lot more money and time. I'm hoping I can fund this over the winter, but it's going to be tight. I'm now living off borrowed money, and that all has to be paid back before I can start spending on Kudu. This is going to be a hard winter, and making the start line will be a very close knit thing if I can make it.

I truly hope I can, but, there are many positives of me not doing so. I'll have another two seasons of sailing before the 2012 JC, and plenty more time to perfect Kudu. It would also mean I could finish of the circumnavigation, rather that terminating in Plymouth for a break as I cross the atlantic. I will just have to wait and see. One thing is certain though, Kudu has a lot more adventures in her future. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Personally I think JAC12 is the place to start. Trans atlantic all alone - 5 weeks make be 6. I think I would have really fallen out with myself by the time I got there!

Plymouth Breakwater to Azores is 246Mag 1193nm according to my screen saver, with a bit of luck about 2 weeks - perfect!

What does Wunja think!

Wunja agrees.

And between now and the start you still need to fit in a 500 nm warm up, which will require preparation and post voyage refit.

However, determination will get you along way and you are streets ahead of me in preparation.

BTW can you survive 5/6 weeks without an internet connection?
