I'm reading the "Memoirs of a Seafaring Life" by William Spavens which was first published in 1796. The Folio Society republished them in 2000.

They read like the eyewitness account of one of Hornblower's men and include vivid descriptions of life on board a warship in the mid-1700s. Campaigns off France and in the Caribbean are covered as well as his adventures in Indonesia.

I mention it because I haven't seen reference to it here or in yotty catalogues.

Any other good reads?
