A sad story. Forum Burgees

Oi whose side are you on................ right,... that's the last time I take you to the pub :p

As far far as I can remember I kept the natives amused whilst over there.

Tom

I thought it would make a hair raising tale.:) As Sir Winston Churchill one said; "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story." ;)

PS Tom had the natives charmed.

No, Christine Gregoire. A real life snake in the grass who is intent on bankrupting the state to get a job in the Obama administration.

Wish is was Palin though. She has 3 great assets. The main asset is that people underestimate her ability. The other two? Well, I'll let you figure that one out.

Sorry to hear that HLB. I cherish mine and fly it with careless abandon and in the most inappropriate circumstances as often as I can.

Of course only the hardiest of forumites will acknowledge my association in the circumstances, and have to have a thick skin to take all the insults thrown from pipesmoking seamaster 27 skippers as they go by on their apoplectic flag ettikety way.

I am new to this, still looking for a boat and am considering a seamaster 27. Can someone advise me of what would be considered bad etiquette with regard to a burgee as, if I can get hold of one I would hate to fly it correctly by mistake. This forum has given me many smiles and I would be proud to own such an item. Just had a thought as I type this, if anyone can let me know where I can obtain one, I will fly it from the aerial of my car at SIBS and see how many comments I get.

Is it her contribution to foreign policy? i.e. keeping a watchful eye on those commies across the Bering Straits?

Seamaster 27 Rools of Burgee flying.

Well lets see. New Seamaster 27 owners are usually provided with, or are expected to provide a nice varnished mahogany pseudo mast to fly any and all burgees from.

Of course, the closer to the windscreen this mast is located the better, as the cross tree will then be able to double as a convenient pipe rack for the skipper.

Alternatively, those owners of an age that were denied bathtime toy boats for pecuniary reasons or wartime rationing and /or non pipesmokers; can, at their discretion, buy and fit a burgee staff to the front of the boat. The stipulation is that this staff must also be of burnished ersatz mahogany and fitted with a nice white rope for hauling up the burgee.

Flying a burgee anywhere on Seamaster 27 other than in the places stipulated will result in a ceremonial pipe stem breaking and ejection from the club. Further, the quaint boat name and place of mooring will be painted out from the transom, leaving the owner to apply a new name in sticky back plastic.

Seamaster 27 owners who have been thus ejected from this hallowed order of mariners can then expect the regulation seamaster abuse and pipestem waving that the rest of us hapless bods have to endure during our perambulations.
It must also be noted that any person thus ejected will be unable to choose the name "lady" or include the mooring location in any part of the boat name.

Thus:

River Lady of York

Will now only be permitted to be called:

River

Of course, more rebellious owners have been known to rename their craft, Graf Spee, Sharnhorst or Tirpitz in a fit of pique, but then that only brings them under the gimlet eye of the Freeman Owners, with more pipestem waving shennanigans and calls of being an unpatriotic ass.

all clear? :)

Well I have had two and been very pleased with both of them.First one wore out but is currently lurking in my filing cabinet and will be disinterred and put back into service if no more are forthcoming.
With regards to wearing the Burgee mine has always been on display and have yet to meet any forumite who has not been pleasant and a pleasure to meet.

Problem has been that a certain few are more interested in proclaiming their political cant rather than enthusiasm for boating. The numbers posting in Lounge who very rarely contribute to any of the other forums makes me wonder exactly how many would stay on the forum if the Lounge was shut down. ?

Wish I had one :( (burgee that is )
and as for the lounge --got out of there months ago
