Well I know some of us like to have the occasional moan about Narrowboats on the river, but I wouldn't wish this on anybodys pride and joy:
I went down on friday to check on my boat as the river was dropping, and the NB behind me was caught on a submerged shelf on its mooring. Unfortunately it was tied by two ropes to its roof which were stopping it from slipping off the shelf. Myself and the landowner tried levering it with scaffold poles, but 10tons of steel was going nowhere. We called the owner but before he got there it pulled its stakes and fell over /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
I know I would be devasated, they are a nice old couple and I guess the NB is a right off.
Only last weekend they were down, I was setting my lines with the river rising, I had suggested they move it back and raft it off the other NB but they seemed happy.
I guess the moral is keep checking your boat as the river goes down, and if you have a NB, do not secure it by the roof.
