Romney Lock, thursday afternoon around 4pm. on self service. Suddenly struck me how sad and lonely this looks.......

It's a lovely photo. Does the boat owner feel sad and would he feel happier with another 10 boats in the lock? When I'm out sailing on the river mid-week in the winter and there is no other boat in sight it makes me happy buy sorry for all the poor beggars at work ( not that sorry tbh).

Danger! Danger!
Attention All Ships

Boatone ventures outside his comfort zone

Too late suspect he's tucked up in safety now...

Ah, there's the rub...... if lock unmanned have to be able to get off boat which means being alongside steps and thats a deep lock. Absolutely no one else about anyway so what's your problem?

If lock is unmanned, drop crew off at waiting zone to open gates, take the boat in yourself and moor up. No need to climb up those messy, slippery steps and crew does all the work!
