...passed between ourselves and the Queen Victoria cruise ship (moored up at Dock Head) that we were admiring at approximately 4pm.

Not a problem normally as there was a good 50 ft between us and the liner but not so when you're on the plane in a 6knt area about 20ft from our boat... you PLONKER!

The 10 year old we had on board sh!t herself when the boat rolled violently, she also says thank you especially considering it was her first time on a mobo so will have the experience ingrained in her nightmares for a while yet no doubt.

If you can also pay for the broken glasses when / if you proudly hold your hand up on here, I'd be most grateful

Perhaps a call on channel 12 to Southampton VTS would have been my first thought.

FWIW our dog crapped on the carpet from the load bangs at Bursledon regatta fireworks leaving a right mess! But I'm not complaining on here or Facebook to the organising committee .
My advise would be to buy some plastic glasses as boats are not the stablest of platforms on this planet.

And the name of the flybridge boat is ------------

I think I know who you mean Gary, we were near Marchwood fishing in our boat and saw him coming in a jeanneau prestige creating a big wash up there and then headed down! or at least we faced one similar to yours at the same time!!!

Why not name and shame?

because I was struggling with my fishing line at the time!!! and all I saw was that my bait table fell in the water and big waves coming! i actually thought one of the cruise ships had departed without me knowing (as had anchor opposite RC cruiseship... but then noticed the big jack A** who headed down and didn't see the name...

that'd be the one and same here, I was too busy spinning the boat around as quickly as I could to take the hit on the bow but only managed to turn so far that I took his wake off the starboard front quarter. The boat rolled to the extent that the base of the bow rails went under. Would have dreaded to think what it would have been like being hit by his considerable wake if I'd not turned.. the little girl with us need picking up off the cockpit floor. I thought about following him and addressing the situation but instead, took the boat and shaken crew back to OV instead. Not the best end to a fab weekend.

Ch12 straight away. Too late now.

That whole area of Southampton water is under CCTV and recordings are kept. Quite a terorist threat apparantly hence the spread limit. Vts will have watched them and contacted the marina they headed to to 'have a word'.

Nasty when that happens isn't it? Especially with youngsters, elderly or disabled people aboard. Wash is very different to natural waves, steeper & closer together for starters. I've seen it done to little Micro-plus's almost swamping them, hooks & bait all over the place.

And yet, in the past when I have complained, I have been told I must expect a boat to wobble about a bit.

Not sure I'd pin too much hope on VTS - I've reported blatant and dangerous speeding to them before and been politely fobbed off. Maybe it depends who happens to be on duty.

Pete

Had similar situation last weekend, recovering Jetski onto bathing platform. A reasonable sized mobo went past at 25knots. The people on the flybridge understood my hand gestures well enough.

I nought about relaunching Jetski to have a word but in Marbella sometimes you don't know who you are talking to.
