Made by Essex Windows fifteen years ago, toughened glass set in aluminium frames with a black rubbery seal. Last year seals cracked in hot sun and began to let water in: dug it out to about 6mm depth and re-filled with a Boatlife polysulfide stuff. That has cracked up in one season. Recommendations anyone?

Re: Need UV-resistant sealant...

Agree with pvb, but use the correct primer to ensure good adhesion. Might it be time for new/refurbished windows?

I had a similar problem. I used WICKES ULTIMATE SEALER. Just masked around windows and frames, squeezed it in and smoothed off. still fine after 2 seasons.

If you are re installing rather than bodging then I would use the neoprene tape instead. I was about to use the Sika 295 etc when this was recommended and although cautious at first I went ahead, and it worked a treat.

I purchased some sealant from Houdini windows in Essex. Arbomast br I think. Rebuilt toughened glass in aluminium frames and sealed with this stuff and bedded the whole lot back with some other grey non setting stuff. So far after 2 years windows are fine. Last 2 to do this winter, but one is stuck in with sikaflec so is going to be a pain !
