Whilst they have a unique traditional look, even I can see it is rather dated. There must be lots of additional value below decks which I haven't had the advantage of seeing. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
 
Bit like an E-Type. Dated, inefficient, rubbish brakes...etc. But if anyone's got a nice concours condition roadster that they don't want...
 
They're not built in large volumes which means that there is no economy of scale. Add in a load of hand crafted parts, a labour intensive build process, and you end up with a very expensive build.

Contrast them to a builder like Jeanneau, who churn 'em out in the hundreds, producing solid, practical, seaworthy boats that might not have the same hand crafted detail, but are half the price.
 
In a word "Class". Nothing else gets anywhere near them if you like that style of boat. Bit like my Morgan really - if you don't recognise it, it is not for you!
 
a raggie answers.... sorry, but big fan of them, nice to see the classic shape again. And as for price... well all mobo's are expensive...aren't they?

...... but all the time this Huntsman 31 (Grey Don) is for sale at a shade over £50k I think I would save my pennies and buy this instead!!!

I know several raggies who have been drooling over one that was on the hard at Shotley....we all thought it was for sail....<oops>....and one stated he would buy it if he won the lottery.......so would I
 
James... What a nice old girl! I would reckon the recent upgrade/refurb. would probably account for most of the asking price, but as we know makes little difference.
I was impressed by the brokers description of the boat, he was actually using the right lingo. Obviously came from a boating background.

Those Sabre motors at the size indicated, did I not read a post recently being a tad unkind about them?
 
Grey Don is absolutely beautiful, I would love to own her, have loved those boats even before I knew what they were.
 
The engines that post was refering to, were the Ford based high output engines, but the 250 fords were great engines. These are perkins based.
 
To spend 50 grand I would want something good looking.

Earlier comparision to E type a bit unfair, E types still look stylish even though they are old an expensive IMO
