A Question of Flags

I'm taking a boat from Lowestoft to Oostende next week. The boat's registered in Belgium but has been over here for 18 months. The Flemish owner will be on board though not in command.

Belgian and UK courtesy flag obviously, but do I need to fly a Q flag on arrival too?

And a big chequebook as Import Duty and VAT may be due. It will need Q flag, but it will depend on status of the owner as to whether cash is needed to enter.

It doesn't, we're on their red list but I applied for an essential travel certificate a few days ago. Just waiting to hear back from the embassy.

No response from the Belgian Embassy which is pretty slack IMO. Regardless of how many times I'm reminded that we live in unprecedented times, I'm sure some use it as an excuse to tread water rather than make a positive plan.

Good to hear from you.... I've had to modify the trip as the Embassy haven't issued an ETC. Plan is now that I'll just take the boat to Ramsgate and lend my stuff to the owner who'll take her across from there. It's worked out well in a way as I'm pontoon hopping in Ramsgate to meet my next delivery there.
