A proper job on iron keels: how best to proceed ?

I ground out much of the rust from my cast iron keel using a small grinder. I then sprayed it with two or three aerosol cans of zinc rich primer making sure it went right into the rust pockets. I then applied car body filler to the bad areas. The worst were were probably 10 mm deep. I then went over with the grinder again back to bare metal to smooth off the surface.
I then coated with about 4 coats of west epoxy. The first coat dissolved some of the zinc primer but it didnt seem to matter.
13 years later no signs of rust.
