My boat has got a pair of Volvo outdrives which appear to be a modified version of the 280.It has a trim facility in the form of two rams which are hidden behind a couple of chunky cast cowlings. My local volvo dealer could not produce a diagram or info in any of his parts books.I already have an official manual for the standard 270/280/290 piece of kit.
Question.Anybody seen any Manuals/Books etc dealing with this modified outdrive mainly for future reference.Might give Amazon a look you never know..

And this is summer is it?

There's a chap that I have been talking to regarding my drive. He asked me if i had power trim fitted, hydraulic that is, to the 280 leg that I have on the boat. It turns out that what you have is a kit that was supplied to the drives with the larger engines. I haven't got his number to hand but do have it programed into the car phone so ill sort it tommorow. Pretty rare tho these lits apparently. What age is the boat that you have bought, cos he reckons that they stopped making them about 16 or 17 years ago.

Wha'dya mean "I'm always playing with this engine" its the only way to get it to run!

Re: a nice pair of legs....280T

Well, I have two of these and they are firmly attached to my "new" Princess 33.
As for being rare, well I had one of the same attatched to my "old" Princess 25,and have seen one or two other examples elsewhere.Think they are known as 280T.
Keyparts had no trouble sending bits for unit on old boat but curious that "official dealer" had trouble identifying them.

And this is summer is it?

I've got the book by SOLECO think that's how you spell it, will dig it out have see if it mentions 280T etc.

Not everything is black and white if you prove otherwise you’ll get run over on a zebra crossing
