Hi,

We have just completed the purchase of a 1989 365 Sportsbridge - "Angelina".

A big change for us after 35 years + of canal narrow boating but now fully retired and not anticipating any great journeys - this old girl presented herself in good "well maintained" condition at a fair price (whatever that is!) but as with all boats she has some areas (mainly internal cabin varnishing) where I can make a difference which is what I like to do.

I have known the boat for many years and know the 2 previous owners which takes her history back to the early 2000's.

Being a reasonably fit 67 I look forward to a few years at least of enjoying her ownership and this forum until the anchor has to be dropped for good.

Jules

Seriously considered a 365 in the past and looked at several - as already mentioned very good use of space and nice boats. Funnily enough I helped a couple moor theirs up who were visiting our marina a couple of weeks ago and it reminded me how much we liked them. Not a speed machine with the twin AD41s (assuming you don’t have one of the triple engined version) but perfectly adequate and they are solid motors.

If you haven’t already I would recommend joining the Sealine Forum - a very friendly and helpful bunch
.

Thanks both,
Twins not 3 and great access for a Motor Boat
She is growing on me already as she is SO different to our past boats - the space to grovel and do odd jobs is already winning me over
Have already joined the Sealine Forum
Cheers

She does look great in the picture. A lot more boat than Molly. I hope that she brings you many happy hours.
She is much bigger than we need BUT we knew her history and have 2 previous owners close by and able to help so she will suit us well
I doubt we will use her to her full potential but we will improve her during our stewardship.
Thanks for your good wishes - we have gained a lot of comfort from knowing Molly is in the right place with the right people.
Cheers to all responders - there are not many weeks of boating left but we are in a good place for next year.

River Severn and estuary and across to Cardiff when I'm sure she will behave herself.
We have been out with friends for the first time today and had a 2 hr cruise - all good - my first time ever with twin engines which was good - I have found a diesel leak but it looks accessible - otherwise all good.

Sadly my wife's deteriorating health means she has to go (boat not wife) PM me if interested OR if you have a much smaller boat you would like to chop in as we don't want to stop its just we MUST have a singlehanded boat S25 or similar or even single engined a river/estuary boat - only diesel.
Cash either way we would trade up if the deal was the right boat

Sorry to hear that.

I get your thinking about a S25 but is such a tight space really what you want (assuming your wife will be on board as a passenger)
I had a S23 (same boat as S25) for six years and it was great but we began to feel cramped for space (well the wife did) and that was when we were in our 50's.
Handling in a marina was like a little leaf being blown about. I found a change to a twin engine boat so much easier to handle.

I would suggest a twin engine (kad32's or cheaper with ad31's ) S28 or similar offers more comfort and still manageable single handed .

Some single engined sterndrive boats can be a bit of a nightmare in breezy conditions in a tight marina.

++ an S28 with twin KAD32’s
Dead easy to park, and doesn’t need a bow thruster.
I could easily single hand that.

Can‘t really single hand the SC35 🙁

I single hand my T46 often.
Before swapping boat get a day or two with a good teacher such as Julie (power skipper on here) and you may find you don’t need to change.

I would agree that size of boat isn‘t the key factor when considering single handed operating. Key factors are how the boat behaves at close quarters and how easily you can pre-rig lines and fenders and get a line ashore when you come alongside.

We had an S34 and I would have happily single handed that as it handled really well at close quarters as does our current Hardy 36, which I would also happily single hand. However, like MartynG and SC35, I would be wary of something more flighty such as an S23 / S25.

Thanks I have been thinking about an S28 - I will ponder more and perhaps go and see one..

As its "trading up" it might also present a part-ex opportunity which would be good as a private sale doesn't appeal (too many tyre kickers) and IMHO broker sale simply adds £5k to the price/value.

There is nothing to hide with Angelina - bought from a friend (known her with friends for app 20yrs) and would sell to a friend.
