Can anyone tell me whether A.Mylne & Co's drawings have survived - and if so, who has them. I'm specifically trying to trace drawings of the Scottish Islands Class. Grateful for any leads. Old Frank

Google gives me: "Ian Nicolson is a fellow of the Royal Institute of Naval Architects, owner of A. Mylne & Co., and founder-partner in Nicolson Hughes Sails. He has contributed to all the major yachting magazines and is the author of over 20 books. He lives in Scotland. " from: http://www.sheridanhouse.com/catalog/boatbuilding/boatdatabook5ed.html

Nicolson Hughes are here: http://www.nh-sails.co.uk/company.htm, tel. 01436 831356 Unfortuntately, they seem to have recently changed hands, but might be well worth giving a call?

Re: A.Mylne & Co

I recently (May/June) phoned Nicolson Hughes to enquire about a boat they had made sails for in the late 1970's. Had to phone back on a Thursday morning as that was the only time Ian Nicolson went into the business. He sounded very old on the phone and could not remember much detail. One hour later he phoned me back. He had been up in the loft and found the old file and told me about the yard where the boat had been built. He was very very helpful. Paul

PVR

Must have caught him on an 'off' day. He still races his Sigma 33 'St Joan' regularly...

Re: A.Mylne & Co

Speak with John Hill Boatbuilder who has rebuilt several Scottish Island class and has a GRP mould for them . Kip Marina (01475 521485) will be able to give you his contact no as he has just moved premises

Re: A.Mylne

I believe David Spy in Helensburgh has rebuilt Scottish Islands in the past

I'm sure he has a website as he also does half hull models of yachts.

Try a Google
