Had a very pleasant trundle down the river today, head to wind so engine on-ticking over nicely thank you. Main and genny from Levington to Harwich and then gave the cursing chute a drying out for the first time this year. All lovely, no big arguments etc. So, upstream of Wrabness with the wind behind and getting shallower. The chartpotter now goes on the blink and the only reason I've found so far for that is voltage drop, on goes the engine for a bit of charge. No water! Reprimed the strainer, still no water. Took the Speedseal cover off and the impeller had gone! Grab the new one from the appropriate locker and shove it in, all good first time so PHEW!
Now we aren't charging though so, check the wiring from the solar panel. Also the VSR says the start battery is fine but the ammeter says the alternator is working hard. Got back to the mooring and the hygrometer says the house batteries are both U/S!
How's that for a workout!
