A lot of boat for the money?

I hesitate to use the word bargain about anything to do with boats but that is indeed a lot of boat for the money and, joy of joys, it has internal steps to the flybridge as well. The reason its cheap of course is that the Rodman brand didn't really stretch this far upmarket against the established Italian and UK yards but by reputation, Rodman do build very strong hulls so she will probably feel solid in a bit of a sea. Only downer is that the gennie looks a bit small and may struggle to power the aircon + SWMBO's curlers

It is indeed a lot of boat for the money. Is it just the photo or is that galley arrangement right? It looks as if it's been squeezed in down a hole somewhere with minimal floor space making it very claustrophobic.

Wow, lots of boat for the money.
Is that a telephone stuck next to the throttles on the fly bridge ? Seems an odd thing to do

does look a bit odd, I assume it's vhf but not seen one before

Surprised
It's a neat VHF I had the same on my SS -that's the hand set ( gubbins are hidden away some where? ) -the hand set can fit on the holder either side up and the buttons are silicon kinda showerproof .
Speaker is hidden away -vol control with others all in the hand set .I have forgotten the brand -guess "ray marine " circa 2002-2005 ish ?

Rather than hesitate, I wouldn't use it period. :D :D

That aside, re.this boat/yard specifically, I'm a bit surprised to read the consensus about Rodman as a builder of very good and solid boats..
Not that I have anything against them - I actually know close to nothing about the yard - but I didn't even think to include it in my radar, which has some flexibility in terms of size and age, but is rather strict in terms of build quality.
Just to give an idea, Ferretti is indeed included in my short list, but among several boats I've seen so far, my current top 3 are all built from other yards - albeit nowhere near as well known.
Do you guys think I made a mistake in not considering Rodman?

Rod man cut their teeth building navy patrol boats and commercial smaller stuff.
They have always been heavy for their size and the fisher hulls (which they transposed to their 42/44 cruiser) are very well regarded.

I would certainly consider a rodman. Are they as good as a Ferretti? I don't know, I'm very impressed with how my 22 year old Ferretti has stood up to time so.

Thanks J, I'd be curious to hear if also others share your view.

Btw, I didn't notice at first sight a couple of things which surely aren't a testament to build quality:
1) the genset, and not just because 8kW is on the weak side for a 56' boat, as Deleted User mentioned, but because it's a Paguro - what were they thinking?!? Then again, I guess it's nice to have something onboard that can be thrown in the water and used as an anchor, if necessary... :p
2) the very small rotating passerelle, which I guess Besenzoni must have sold in numbers that don't require two digits to be counted. IIRC, good for only 150 (if not 120...!) kg lift capacity - i.e. capable to take not much more than one person going onboard at a time. No surprise that the tender is (for the boat size) a practical joke.... :D

Oh, and the boat is actually (see the very last line) a 2005 MY, actually built in 2004.
Advertising the registration year is a ridiculous trick not uncommon among brokers, sadly... :ambivalence:
