A little bit of sailing fantasy - french film

Sailed into St Trop in 69. Gentle wind, so slow going. Suddenly, hordes of mobos poured out of the corners of the bay. All had a BB style fordeck mascot and delighted in taking us as close as possible. After nearly an hour of this bouncing around, they all disappeared. Presumably for the pre-lunch 'apero'. Later, we dined on the front. Good food, but the cafes were full of swivel heads. Trying to catch a sight of some one famous, all of whom were up in the hills in the smart villas. Overrated, and that was long before the current of lot 'stars' trashed it even more.

Watched it earlier with the Mrs. What a lovely film. Thanks for sharing the link.

I was shocked to remember that it was almost 25 years ago that I was in St Tropez last. Where did all the years go ? :(

I had my first holiday there 50 years ago. I remember all the little places selling crêpes suzettes going up the hill through the town and a taverne at the top with a music box where everybody danced the polka.

Fantastic ambiance but then it became sophisticated. I nearly t-boned BB in her 2CV. I wasn't much into "priorité à droite" then.

Mais Oui ...ooohh la..la !!!

But, did you like the music?

the whole thing was beautifully done.....the music fitted perfectly....the sun was shining....the winches polished and , I'm guessing here,...even the sails were ironed !

Oui mon amis...c' est la bonne vie....n'est pas ?? ... mais....pour mois?? non..

...Applescruffs, it's a National Disgrace, and continue boating in East Coast muck and cease that bi-lingualism at once, too, or I'll tell Matron, and it'll be The Solent in Cowes Week for you, my lad, with no supper!:D:D

Looking forward to it already...PM for more details!

PS: Do I have to bring my own' equipment'....or is this supplied ?.. I need to know as 'import' facilities to the Isle of Wight have been suspended following a recent import scam involving fake 'VIM' products...........

Apparently a spokesman from 'Ajax' was also unavailable for comment......you can drawer your own conclusions......

Crikey this is a first but I can actually say I was there at the Voile last summer.

My other half works in the superyacht charter business and one of her yachts was was anchored there. We were supposed to watch the racing from the yacht but; a, it was too far up the harbour for a good view and b, we rolled up on a non racing day.

I was a bit fed up not to get on the yacht, swmbo sailed on it in Anitigua in December, so put of a sore point.

Instead of the racing we saw a procession of all the yachts which was probably more impressive as most of the yachts were out. I could not believe the number of yachts in the harbour, it was crammed full of beautiful yachts of all sizes. A baking hot day, lovely.

Thanks for that Dylan, I'll pass it on to the swmbo.

Was in St Tropez on Thursday and saw all these lovely wooden vessels moored up - what a joy to see how they sail they are spectacular.

Ha! Coincidence!!! I was in SoF last week and went to St Tropez on Sat. I think this is what you were referring to:

Lots of work going on, sanding, and varnishing. I dont expect there was an owner that side of the Alps though.
