I was going to post this in the lounge, but decided it was far too boaty for that lot to digest :p

This summer I met a chap in a 26ft Stella, a lovely boat. We ended up playing cat and mouse up the coast after an 86 singlehanded convoy from Wells to Bridlington. Every so often he'd set off before me, and thinking I'd probably never see him again, end up mooring next to him a few days and miles up the east coast. Scarborough, just missed him at Hartlepool, then Eyemouth, and finally Arbroath, where we convoyed again to Stonehaven.

Anyway, he was fantastic company and kept me on my toes with his passage planning. In all, it was jolly nice to have met him.

This morning, I opened my mail to find some A4 photographs of Kudu at sea, and a two page hand written letter. I haven't received one of those in many, many years. It's so much nicer to receive a penned letter. It's made my day actually.

The photos are really nice. So often when out on the water we get some good shots of other boats, but don't know where to send them. We end up with a collection of lovely photos of other boats and very few of our own under sail. When people do send them it is such a joy. So much easier these days with email attachments and digital cameras too.

New year resolution for everyone, then. Make the effort to pass on any good shots.
