I'm now on my third kettle.

I am high tone deaf.

I need a kettle which when boiling emits such a loud whistle that when it sounds, neighbouring boaties will hammer on my hull and plead with me to turn the gas off.

Or failing that, one that sounds under 261.626 Hz

Recommendations?

Have you tried putting a small piece of ceramic inside the kettle, or a very small heat proof glass salt dish/cellar (small ash tray) It should rattle around when the water boils, that might be in your hearing range.

Give it a go, or even an upturned saucer (maybe one from an espressos type set) obviously has to be small enough to get through the lid.

Oh, and this is just an extension of the old trick of an upturned saucer in the bottom of a pan of milk, it rattles around as a warning just before the the milk boils over.

Mum told me this trick, think it came from one of those old house hold tips books from the 1940/50s.

In my youth there was a thing made of pyrex glass that was designed to rattle loudly just befoe boiling point to prevent you boiling over the milk for your late night cocoa.

We have one of these onboard..

It is a Ikea 365+ Kettle... made from stainless with a melamine handle... removable whistle.. Very robust and nicely made...

Quite a loud whistle, we can easily hear it when going along from the cockpit..

A very nice bit of kit... feels like a nice quality thing.

Used a small chinese soy dish, worked a treat, and didn't cost anything.

Many thanks.
