Justan observation…..In Europe it’s possible to buy much smaller shovels with longhandles so Ther isntthetendencyto carry too much on the shovel, normally these shovels have a triangular shaped “blade”
These are the cement-mixing-shovels if I am not entirely mistaken. I remember well the times when concrete was mixed by making a heap od sand with a dimple on the summit, add the correct quantity of cement and then bucket by bucket the water. The stirring is easier with these triangular shovels than with one would call a "coal- shovel" of rectangular shape and upturned sides.Justan observation…..In Europe it’s possible to buy much smaller shovels with longhandles so Ther isntthetendencyto carry too much on the shovel, normally these shovels have a triangular shaped “blade”
Our garden I think was a quarry were the stone for the house was mined so pretty thin but neighbours have much better soil although a bitstoneyYup
I’ve switched to long handled ones too
Less bending over as well
And where there’s a decent step or flange on top you just stand on it and wiggle. That sorts the baked clay bits !( with some judicious overnight presoaking)
What’s the soil in Galicia hills? Lovely I imagine ?? And well watered..️
