Has anyone posted a poll to see what difference the Greek tax makes
ie.. are you staying, going, has it stopped you going or will you still go?

I have not been on here for a while so I am trying to catch up.

Thanks... found it via the link
Another year maybe but I know of 7 or 8 boats here that were going this year but are now leaving it to see what is going to happen.

They speak funny! I limit myself to places where I can understand and be understood!

I find it remarkable how many Greeks speak quite good English. The ultimate being perhaps the owners of the marina at Leros, who not only speak perfect colloquial English but the same standard in French and pretty good German, so I am told. But even in remote villages on tiny islands it is unusual not to find somebody who wants to chat in perfectly understandable English.

They have the advantage of speaking a foreign language to start with.

I'm sure they do, but I'm one of those strange Englishmen who prefers to talk to people in their own language - I'm fluent in Spanish and can get by in French, Italian and Portugese.

In the Dodecs, the older Greeks did not speak any English, but were quite happy to speak Italian.......
