I'm taking delivery of a new Sunseeker Manhattan 60 in March and will be taking it to Mallorca under its own steam at the end of April/early May.

Most of the large vessels at Libs appear to be A-Glaze treated but of course this is for exibition purposes.

After talking to the people on the A-Glaze stand they recommend 4 coats of sealer after the preperation stage.

The price they have quoted is very reasonable and probably reflects the volume of work available in the present climate.

Before I decide to proceed with the A-Glaze application I would welcome any comments from anyone who has used the system particually from anyone who has experience of the system in the Med.

PS Sorry folks I do not have any photos as I will not be making any visits during the build process due to pressure of work.

Nice boat Doug. Ive not used A GLAZE as the cost quoted to me a year ago was pretty steep in comparison for what I thought it would cost however my investigation of the system and the results were all good. I think I would recommend it as a good idea for the med as it must give better protection against the sun rays

Doug, we do not have our boat in the med. we have a 5 year old F43 from new, and every year she has been taken out of the water and A Glazed, in my view the gel is still as white as when we took delivery (this is proven by the white gel behind where the covers are on when she is left) and washing is very easy if you use the A Glaze wash fluid, and black streaks come of very easy. The glass magic stuff is excellent, so i would recomend it.

It's totally unrelated in some ways, however....

My father bought a brand new car 11 years ago and had it covered in Supaguard - a product that makes similar claims to the A-Glaze products....

I thought at the time, that even if it worked a quarter as well as they claimed it was probably worth the money (£299 - obviously a boat will cost a lot more than a car to treat).

To my amazement, 11 years on and the car looks brand new. Dad has never had to polish the car once - a simple rinse off and it looks amazing.

The point here is, I would say that if the cost isn't too bad, and you can find anyone to say that this stuff works - I would go for it. I have read the claims and if it works a quarter as well as Supaguard did for his car, it will be money superbly spent - i don't know what's in this stuff but I have seen that some of these "coatings" can work.

Can I ask how much it costs?

we had it done on our princess 50 last year first time we had used it and the boat is fine and will do another coat n/month she was new in august 07 and looks like new now good product

Spoken to a couple boat cleaners that have tried it and stopped using it. One was a agent for a short while.
Over priced and not better than wax.

Tried it myself and don't like it!

Haydn what did you do to finally get her to stop smoking? A seriouss question because my old P315 used to get so sooty it drove me nuts. she had TAMD 41s and whatever we did, new injectors, pumps etc nothing would stop the smoke. In the end I got rid because I was fed up of cleaning her.

I even A glazed all the back end but that didn't help.

I A-Glaze my boat and have since new but it is only two years old so I don't have much to compare it to but I like it and plan to continue using it.

Thanks for all your comments.

I think I will have the A-Glaze carried out and will post some pictures of the finished result.

This forum has got to be the most helpful place in the boating world.

I have just had it put on the new boat, last week. Looks fab, but I suppose it would. Will be interested to compare notes in a year or 2 (mine is going to Med too). I've heard many good reports from independent people (ie not dealers) so I thought I'd give it a try. I cetainly wouldn't recommend just wax/shampoo/ordinary stuff in the Med sun - it's hard work keeping boat shiny after 3 years in the Med sun
