We had never met before tonight. Indeed we were such strangers that someone had to put up a picture of their avatar so they could be recognised by the others..

However, we all share a same love of sailing and boats. Because of that simple common bond the company was good, the conversation was pleasant . No one was trying to be the "commodore" or to prove a point. No one tried to be the big cheese.. A good time was had by all....

I could not ask for a more pleasant evening.:)

Thank you one and all who came along.
Thank you also to YBW for the Forum without which we would not have met.. I hope to meet again..

Sounds like you have just discovered something many of us found a long time ago, and still enjoy. Good to hear it was a good experience for you.

Big thank you to Tomahawk for organising the meet :) It was indeed nice to put a face to some more forumites, we had an enjoyable evening
Do we know what happened to those missing persons?

We would like to add our thanks to Tomahawk for his organisation. It was indeed an excellent night. Our first experience of a forum event, I am sure it will not be the last.

My only headache is as a result of Xmas shopping this morning:(

Fair winds to Mr and Mrs Tomahawk-see you in two years?

I have had a few good meetings with fellow forumites, how ever there is one that did not even recognise me :eek:even though we have met before, we stood chatting outside his house and neither of us realised who we were ( I hate getting old ) til the penny dropped for both of us :o.
YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE :p:p:p:D

Sadly the Clovelly Bay tried to double charge us for deposit monies alredy taken.. Just about had a stand up row with a silly young man almost accusing us of trying to avoid paying our bill... Even when we said we paid the deposit by credit card so we have a record he insisted on proving himself to be a fool..

Very sad because he spolied a lovely evening for us.. Also they won't be getting any more of our custom although we had been drinking most evenings since we stopped over in Plymouth..

There are other pubs:)

The Borringdon has always been better imho. Although now Barry has gone I don't know what the new landlord is like, but I'm told it's still much the same, thank goodness.

Mr and Mrs Tomahawk.

I have to say I am pretty upset.

I read about the get together and sent a PM to you for details.

As a result of your reply I flew in to the UK and followed your detailed instructions to the letter of how to get there. After three hours and drinking my six pack and eating my crisps I decided no one else was coming or I had got the wrong date so I left.

Hope you all had a good time.

P.S... I can see why you chose this as a venue. The view from the top of Ben Nevis is spectacular.:eek:

Well we were wondering what happened:)

Are you that sure you followed my instructions as you say?
The big yellow navigation aid in the sky would have been a hint that all was not as it should be. It should bave been in front of you instead of behind you..:D

Clearly you got your port and starboard mixed up at the junctionnwith the M6:p

Apologies for the no-show. Gutted that I missed the chance to meet the local sailing peeps. I went out for a consolation sail this morning since the weather and breeze were damn near perfect on the Sound even if it was a bit of a handful solo. There were a few out racing that seemed to be enjoying themselves too.
