Afternoon all. Some of you may recall my appeal some weeks back for a field next to a river or lake I could hire in which to celebrate my nuptials next August. I had hoped all was finalised with Brendans brilliant recommendation but it's not as straightforward as it seemed. The upshot is that I'm still on the hunt for a (private) field next to a river - the Thames, Berkshire/Oxfordshire preferably - that I can put a marquee up in. It doesn't have to have power and water as generators, bowser and portable loo block can be brought in. I'd prefer it not to be tied to a golf club or similar. Any ideas -please?

Harleyford have a very large field which is often used for weddings, and I assume is available for hire to outside folk (!).
Fabulous surrounding, adjacent large car park (always empty) 24/7 security.

Probably cost 3 arms and a leg, though.

Or Temple Island at Henley (four legs)

On a similar vein, Fawley meadow,

or even the large field at Medmenham,
I think the three above are owned by Copas

Not bordering, bordering, as such, but my (ex) brother in law has a vineyard about a road mile (half a mile as the crow flies) from hambleden lock. not sure of your agenda, but with a couple of taxis it could make a pretty good place to celebrate your nuptials. And the local wine would be very local (c:

Thanks guys for all the above - you wouldn't believe what some of them wanted! The divorce would be cheaper! At the moment it's looking like Queens Eyot about 400 yds from the boat - excellent!
