a few random thoughts on Netherlands

So shift one of your Euro accounts to ING, who issue Maestro debit cards. They are accepted in most EU countries whether Euroland or other currency. It's ony the UK where the financial businesses are very US oriented that Visa and Mastercard have squeezed Maestro out. But note that in non Euro countries, Maestro are nearly as bad as Visa and Mastercard at ripping you off for exchange if you pay with their Euro denominated card. Tht of course, is not a problem in Holland.

Peter.
Already tried that but ING ING won't accept my address/nationality mixture

Ah, that makes you a bit of aspecial case. I'm surprised they cncern themselves with your nationality, but any EU bank should require your address and tax residency to align as part of their obligation to help prevent tax evasion / money laundering.

My approach works fine for a UK tax resident with a UK address, and, as far as I recall, they have never asked for my nationality since I produced my passport on opening the account, because I didn't have an ID card like nationals of other EU countries. They do however ask annually after my tax residence and ref no., so that they can report to HMRC the zero interest they have paid me over the year.
