Sold uk boat 2 years ago, lack of use due to crappy weather in uk. still have small regal,in spain.
I miss uk boat like crazy, cant decide, wind or motor, sea or river, yes or no.
Weather is still crappy, fuel is still expensive but I have retired and got time
Words of wisdom appreciated, spain boat would need to go, cant be doing both

Really depends where you live, and how far you need to travel for the boat. We have been on the river Severn for the past few years, and now on the Bristol Channel, to venture further afield. Norfolk Broads is one of our very favorite places. Lots to see and so safe. I would love to be on the Solent, but the location does not work for me at the moment.

Maby, not much moving under sail in the crappy weather on the Solent today. :). Saw a couple of Princesses out on the water though.

They're all at the boat show looking for new high tech oilies to protect them from the crappy weather!

Been a good summer this year and one of the best we have had for cruising.
We went brought a similar dilemma when we sold our last boat (Fairline Targa) with the main issue being power or sail, river or sea. We ended up with a Broom based on the Broads.....best of both worlds with good inland cruising and easy access to the sea for longer holiday cruises in the right boat for the job. Sailing is for charter every now and then in warmer climes.

As an aside weather has never put us off being on the boat....no point worrying about it otherwise you just miss out. Lost count of the number of times a rubbish forecast has kept most at home and we have had a great time in okay (sometimes great) weather. Only real downside is when strong winds and rough seas preclude going out of the pier heads but that doesn't happen on the river.
