A couple of questions re unwanted guests.

We have very hungry mosies where we sail over summer months that seem to think I'm the juiciest feed around. Have made up some screens from flyscreen mesh to fit over all ports and companionway. They have velcro patches sewn on and opposite bits are glued to the edge of ports and companionway. Quick and easy to fit and remove and no more listening for the buzzzzz at night. Really do work and cost couple of dollars. Have been in use for years and makes staying in the ideal anchorage actually ideal!!!

Get your SWIMBO to speak to the Avon lady...It is a Skin oil and I believe it is the Woodland one...

Used by armed forces and many others and defeats the Midges in Scotland..Avon have missed a marketing opportunity LOL

No doundt someone here will remember the correct description.

People who sail cats don't have problems with rats, I've heard :-)
As far as mozzies are concerned, buy any product with the highest concentration of DEET. Some products only have 10%, others over 90%. Here, in Florida, where the mosquitoes have saddles, that's what the locals use. BTW, I once read a report saying that Avon's Skin So Soft was next to useless as a mozzie repellant as it contains no DEET...

If you're going down the DEET route, hunt out something called 'Bens repellent'. I bought some from tesco a couple of years ago and they stocked varying strengths. I got the 30% which was effective enough for general use and even worked as an ant repellent when smeared around windows. Look for it on the internet and you can find strengths right up to 100%.
