Hi All, I'll be making final preparations for the YBW Charity Cycle Ride from Penton Hook Marina to Ocean Village Marina by driving the route from OV to PH on the 5th June stopping off at the pubs that have agreed to support us along the route to hang balloons and the like, not have a beer to my great dismay ;) That means it'll be a bit of a hassle to drive from Chertsey to Milton Keynes via the dreaded M25 only to return to Chertsey first thing in the morning to cycle the 70 or so miles back to Ocean Village.. Please may I ask if there is anyone that could give me a place to get my head down for the night on the evening of the 5th of June either on a boat in the marina or local(ish) to the area?

I hope you don't mind me taking the opportunity to give a general update on the event too....

We've made alot of progress in the last few weeks with banner designs almost complete thanks to Artisan Signs and MDL have been brilliant with making arrangements at the start and finish of the ride, we've even roped in my good lady wife and a few of her friends to provide massage services for those tired legs at the end of the ride :)

As you've hopefully seen from Superheat6k's recent post we've secured the Southampton Yacht Club for a post ride Beer and Natter, please do consider joining the soiree, it's always good fun with some great raffle / auction prizes to win and an excuse (if ever it's needed) to have a good old chigwag with like minded folk about boats .. more details here within post #14 of his thread http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthrea...mpton-area-6th-June-after-the-Bike-ride/page2

The most impressive aspect of all is the shear effort and determination exhibited by the riders in training, I cannot praise this enough, many many miles have been put in, in all weathers :encouragement:. If you have 5 mins to spare, take a look at this thread to read about individuals efforts to get ready for the ride: http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?417096-Straining-rides

The running total so far for donations has reached an impressive £1,872 which is approximately 1/3rd of the way towards our target with the hope that the goodly folk of this forum, the riders continued fundraising efforts and the initiatives on the day will see us close to our desired target of £5k for the British Heart Foundation. To be honest, I'd be happy with the amount we've raised thus far but to hit the target of £5k by the 6th June would be something special and worthy of the effort put in by the participants and those that sorted out my ticker back in September of last year.

Whether you decide to donate or simply attend either Penton Hook or Ocean Village Marina to lend your encouragement to those taking part, we'd very much appreciate that support. Here's the link to the Just Giving site again should you wish to donate: https://www.justgiving.com/teams/BikeForCharity/ and we hope to see you at the start or finish line and the beer and natter for those that are attending that event

All the best Gary

p.s. a massive thanks to Moody Sabre for your recent donation to my JustGiving page, thank you for your generosity :encouragement:

thanks Henry, that's appreciated and I'll take you up on the offer, it'll save me at least an hour on the road getting down to PH :encouragement:

They have "history"

Jesus Roy, when will you ever let it go...

I thought we could use the lavender massage butter this time Gary. The eucalyptus butter was ok but a bit too "firey" for a cosy night by the TV.

Jealousy is a terrible thing Roy and it makes your face go all wrinkly.

Henry :)

I know, I know, but you never ever forget your first. It still just hurts....
