LOL, yeah. Otoh, we might as well reply with some links to accidents involving multiple engines boats!
And then debate till the hell freezes over...![]()
It happens! I organised a cruise in company beach party once. Just once mind, it was a fiasco never to be repeated. Anyway set off and the Hell That is Conwy Bay was calm a serene but no sooner had we passed Puffin than some really big rollers came in. If I say the boats were rolling 60 degree arcs every 4 seconds I would not be accused of exaggeration. This caused one mobo to release enough sediment and bug slime to completely clog a fuel line. We thought it was a racor seal failure at the time because we could see it visibly empty half way every time you tried to restart the engine. Anyway we limped back into the Menai with him on his second engine to find sheltered waters and six boats threw the hook out and commenced BBQing waiting for the waters to settle a bit before tackling the homeward leg. The owner of the mobo was quite frazzled at this point and was on a Delta anchor in soft mud. Wouldn't you believe it but he then started dragging and was about to hit my boat. A mad scrabble ensued as the two of us rushed to our boats to stave off the impending collision. In his haste he fired up his remaining engine while the tender strops were hanging off the back of his bathing platform and gave the throttles some welly. There was an almighty bang and the drive of his only remaining and good engine appeared above the waterline on it's side having twisted 90 degree in the transom bracket. That's how he lost both engines. When sh-it happens it is normally a series of events that culminate into one major event. It's like the brain stops thinking straight and errors become compounded.
