It seems that the Crown estates now want to charge for putting in a new bridge!

How far is this cr@p going to go? There's been a bridge here for years, so why charge now?

the answer is simple...

abolish the crown.

it's just like the radio licensing authority, it exists only to take cash off us and feather its own nest. the only benefit it provides is to attract tourists and it's not very efficient at that.

move them all to toxteth, hire some out-of-work actors to parade up & down every day in silly costumes, open the castles to tourists and the whole thing becomes self financing.

The crown estates is a govt dept and another of Brown the robber barons money raising schemes - the revenues were turned over from the Queen Victoria to the Govt in return for the (very much smaller) civil list.

have to pay crown for our mooring just for a patch of sea bed it is posotively archane and just a revenue exercise

The Crown Estates were, I understand, created when a poxed and profligate king of England was unable to pay his debts (nothing new there then) and the new Crown Estates amortised the debt in exchange for the use of the lands.

Now hundreds of years later, that debt must surely have been repaid a thousand fold, or rather more, and the CE is now an unelected non representational selective tax collector - and probably not entirely legal.

I agree with the others - off with their heads if we must, because we cannot expect any degree of reason or fairness from Bliars lot.

Sadly it seems that none of the 'Roundhead' rabble on this post are listening to you.

It may take some repeating that this sorry state of affairs is nothing whatsover to do with HM the Queen, who along with all things badged to The Crown has been abolished in favour of President Blair.

I understand that after the EU constitution has been forced through without referendum "Her Majesties'" Government" will no longer be considered to be an appropriate description, since it would be unconstitutional and becomes The Devolved Sub-Excutive Arm of the EU Central Administration.

Worth remembering that the last time the Roundheads kicked the Monarchy out, the cure was worse than the disease and it had to be restored. Do we see history repeating itself?

Well said Sir, and the ignorance of the Roundheads only serves to bolster Blair's argument against having a referendum on the EU Constitution. They wouldn't know what to vote for.

I am beginning to wonder how he will get around the Oath of Allegiance sworn by many who have served in HM Armed Forces, Police, etc including himself, I guess through gritted teeth.
