A bit of wifey advice needed

ooops
must be someone else's children on a different thread!

My input would be do NOT do the course on a lake. Thats, maybe, like having a driving lesson in a car park.
The challenges you need to get reasonably confident with, are dealing with wind, tide and sea state, all of which make the boat behave as though it has a mind of its own (to a novice).
Do the course on the coast and get to grip with the trickier bits under tuition.
Just be aware that the course will run that day unless its dangerous. Good weather and sunshine isnt part of the booking agreement /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Also, remember to name the boat after her "Lady Whatever". You'll see loads of boats from small ones to $100m+ superyachts, including lots on this forum, called "Lady [wife/gf name]" or "Queen [name]". Get a pic of the boat you want to buy and photoshop her name on it, so she can see :-)

Looks like we're sorted /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif but at a cost. my good lady will be getting a car upgrade from the Peugeot 307 to a Shogun Sport 4x4 so towing will no longer be an issue and she's now comfortable with getting a boat subject to most of the things you good people posted (courses, boat named after her etc)... just need to rethink the 2009 budget /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

anyone fancy becoming the proud owner of a very low mileage 2003 Peugeot 307 HDI in part x for a sport cuddy? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

would love to meet the guy we sailed past in the Solent in 97 who named his boat Wayne Kerr.. must have been a right 'character'.. bet he named his cat, Cooking Fat too /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Try
"For the new boat you will need some nice warm fleeces and deck shoes"
Spend an absolute fortune on her at the chandlers (that's nothing compaired to the boat and subsequent running costs, by the way!)
......it worked for me! /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Having owned a Shogun Sport, I'd hardly use the term "upgrade" /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

took a ride in one today and it's not bad (not brilliant mind).. I'd sum it up as a dressed up workhorse.

this is the actual car, going back to buy it tomorrow if the missus likes it.... granted it's a basic vehicle but it'll do the job I need it to.

Can I ask what you didn't you like about them?
