We had a bit of a party on saturday here in Brisbane, river festival, but in the fading light, I just managed to snap this fly over. My memory card said full and the batteries said empty, so no more photos that night. 1/2 hour fireworks plus F 111 now just a memory. That would never happen with my film camera, still getting to know my digital camera, don't think it is much good for that anyway. I have some more pictures taken in the daytime if you want to see.

what - you never ran out of film? dont believe it. You just need to carry an extra suply of batteries and another film card. My sony is very frugal with its battery, and with one spare card and one spare battery I can take up to 500 pictures at full resolution (3.1 megapixel)

Cards that come with the cameras are normally merely appertisers. Mine came with an 8meg card (5 years ago) and I now have a 64meg card and 2x128meg cards. These days depending on the media type you can go up to gb cards. However, battery consumption tends to be the limiting factor for most cameras. My wife's camera uses AAA batteries - and when I say uses, it consumes them at a prodiguous rate. My sony uses a rechargeable battery pack that provides 155 mins of use, but quickly sets itself into a sleep mode. This can be a bit of a problem as it can slow reaction time, but there is a work round. It is certainly enough to last a complete dive with flash and 50+photos (i have a housing for it!)

Bought a 128 mb card, so now I can be ready for the next fireworks which is new years eve.Still not too keen on the digital, everything so bloody small, having a hard time reading the tiny small icons even with my reading glasses on. Must venture out one night to see what I can come up with.

Good - now just make sure you have enough batteries, - and do post some pictures of the fireworks - this is one of mine from Cowes this year:
