Hello all, I recently bought a 15 hp carburetor off ebay, in great shape, but did not see where it said the carb had an electric choke before. My 9.9 choke was manual..my question is, how/can you convert from manual to electric. What all parts do I need. Any info would be greatly appreciated, and if you can link a video it would be a huge help..thank you

i suggest you look at the BRP parts list for the 15 hp model ( year and model number will identify it ) from which carb came
http://epc.brp.com/Index.aspx?lang=E&s1=f572e40e-aac3-41f3-8408-1f85f855fe61

Alternatively look at the parts lists on boats.net or other parts supplier. Boats.net: Outboard Motors, OEM Marine Parts, Boats for Sale

Cannot help further without knowing the model details.

Cannot promise that the bracket and solenoid can be fitted to your 9 hp.. but do not know if your new carb had a solenoid operated flap type choke or if it had an electric priming pump

Cannot say if you could convert the new carb to manual choke . If possible that might be the easier option.

For practically every thing else you'll ever need to know about OMC 9.9 and 15 hp models see Welcome to LeeRoy's Ramblings

I suggest you ask on the Evinrude /Johnson board of the iBoats forums for advice

I believe the 15 hp would have had an electric primer pump , Not an electrically operated choke.

Should be easy to fits but stupidly expensive if you have to buy a complete new pump

Conversion to manual may be possible by fitting a manually operated primer pump. Id consider this if your 9.9 is a ropenstart model

Was wondering about just converting the electric choke to a manual one, the motor is pull start. Biggest problem I have doin electric to manual is that the 15 hp carb doesnt have the choke flapper or punch outs for the flapper

It may be possible to fit the manually operated primer pump that was fitted to some models. Look at the primersystem shown in the parts catalogues for 1988 6 and 8 hp models.
With luck it'll fit in place of the old choke knob and connect to the new carb.
Just an idea, not making any promises
Float the idea to the people on the iBoats forum, see what they think. If anyone can help they will be able to.
