9.9hp outboard leg oil

ive just drained the oil out of the leg on the outboard and need to know if i can fill it with EP80W-90 gearbox oil i have for my old car.

it looks and smells like the oil out the leg and my ep80 oil are the same. im hoping to use it on saturday for a spin around the estuary

You don't acually tell us what outboard it is, perhaps you have previously!

Most outboard gearboxes use EP90. Not so sure about the 80W-90 though. Use it go for your trip on Saturday and change it if anyone says stick to straight EP90.

its a 91 yam 9.9hp 2 stroke. i'll put in the oil i have and get some more on tuesday as for some strange reason my 3 local chandlers are closed

Not much help, but we are open till 6.30) /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif, think, use the oil you have for Sat as VicS says, won,t do any harm, have a nice spin. Bill.
