I have been searching the net for a bollard pulling test for 4 stroke 9.9 high thrust outboards. Could any one help , have you ever seen one , if so could you pass on the link , or can you remember the results . When talking to the dealers they all say their motor has the most thrust but i think there is quite a bit of BS here . I tend to think that the Yamaha 9.9 would have the best results with its high ratio gearbox and large prop but i just don't know and i cannot find a comparison anywhere . many tanks.

Results will be dependent on gear ratio and prop pitch with a size that allows the engine to reach max revs/power.

Not any people want to pull a static bollard but the figures are often quoted for electric outboards to make them seem comparable with higher powered conventional outboards

Wikipedia article worth a read if not done so already http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bollard_pull

Didn't PBO do this with Dylan a year or two ago? Maybe they weren't 10HP engines, but it was around that size.

I think you are right. IIRC one of Dylans videos showed it being done although he did not give the results. You had to buy the comic to get those.

I went through this search and compare process about 15 years ago. At that time the Yamaha was definitely king. I used one on a 32ft catamaran and never felt the need for more power. Brilliant engines.
