Looking at a secondhand yacht with this motor, are Volvos a good reliable motor
All I can find is it’s a 10hp two cylinder built presumably for the boat which was built in 1977Age ?
Model?
Perhaps?
Yes,your probably. rightPetrol or diesel?
Saildrive or shaft?
Type of boat
In any case if it’s original it’sover 40 years old so assume it will need replacing soon
Thanks………coming to conclusion that I can only expect trouble with an old engine and it’s installation so am leaning towards an outboard motordon't underestimate gbox issues. A couple of friends have such 2 and 3 cyl 40yo volvos, they are alright as engines, but saildrives are problematic either with the cones or the rubber couplers to the engine.
best if you find the model of both engine and gboxx and ask at PBO

From years of ownership of infernal combustion engines I have not so far been able to dominate them needing the assistance of an engineer.I think I have to admit that the type of boat I can afford they are going to be old with a varied u known past.Anoutboard side steps this problem and certainly can provide sufficient power.I think that is much overstating the case.
