9.5m vs 11.5m?

Hi everyone!

I need an advise based on experience.

I have 6.5m boat and want to upgrade.
And my budget allows me either less userd 9.5 like Bavaria S29 or older something like Jeanneau leader 36, Cranchi Zafiro 34, Bavaria 33…

So, my question is what is the difference in reality in waves (will be used in Mediterranean).

Is that extra 1..2m of hull length worth to have older boat for the practical use?

Hi,

I had a Searay 280/315 (2x260 Mpi, petrol), a Larson 330 (2x260hp D4s) and a Cranchi Zaffiro 34 (2x260hp D4s).
The Zaffiro 34 was at its own league, at least two levels up from the Larson and a couple more from the Searay when the wind was blowing.

We did a lot of island hopping that we wouldn't dare to do with the other two.
One was from Arkioi island straigth to Poros island (Aegean) with an F5 with F6 gusts, almost non stop (just a swim in Kythnos) 160miles in 10 hours accompanied by a Pershing 33.
I would not even think to do such a crossing with the previous boats I had.

I wouldn't be afraid to go for an older boat as long the previous owner did all the maintenance he should.
But I would be very cautious and would get a good surveyor involved.
