Hi all,
I read in our weekly local paper yesterday that the police have arrested
an 8 yr old boy for shouting bogey in through the stromness library door.
For the last few weeks the boy had done his dick & dom in da bungalow-style prank, the local sergeant then set up a stake-out to catch the kid.
It goes on to say that the boy it to be reported to childrens panel.
In my younger day if that where to happen we would have gotten a foot up the backside form the local plod then he would have spoke to your father and he sorted you out.

I think the hole things totaly daft , whats is happening the the place.

Cheers, Geordie

Eh?

Look, I know the long winters up in Orkney can do funny things to people, but, seriously, what is a "dick & dom in da bungalow-style prank"?

Mythical golden age of childhood

This didn't happen in my day; we were too busy watching TISWAS and chucking buckets of water over each other.

In the words of WC Fields: "The Good Old Days are Good because they're gone" /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

(Edit) My kids (aged 10 and 7) absolutely love Dick & Dom. I can take it or leave it to be honest, but SWMBO also thinks it is a hoot. I read an article in the paper a while back, saying that this is how it tends to be (i.e. women like it; men don't). Plainly I'm not as much in touch with my feminine side as I should be!

I think they played BOGIES! at the LBS last year - I wonder if any of our esteemed Forumites got zapped?

Ah...........

Ahh.... Re "Geddit?", no need to to be ageist about it! I do not have primary school age children in the house, though I'll no doubt be told about it from granddaughters over the next couple of weeks. Harumph..

Also apologies to my Orcadian friends. Must be about dark up there now.

Big Nick, are you aware you left out some words?
Surely it should have read....
"not so easy to get the cops to find out....."

I recently tried to visit a police station, first time for many years
Visit 1 Closed (evening)
visit 2 Closed (weekend)
visit 3 Open "Sorry sir this is the Met, you want Surrey"
"Right, erm will they be open?"
"Not now sir, I can give you a number to find out opening hours"
Etc Etc Gave up in the end

Regards and Merry Christmas Briani

PS That was a wind up about not being allowed to say Merry Christmas was it not?

Re: Ah...........

"though I'll no doubt be told about it from granddaughters over the next couple of weeks"...

In that is your mistake......

They will not tell you about it.... they'll wait until you are quietly relaxing, perhaps reading the paper with a nice glass of red wine.... and then they'll creep up behind you, lean over towards your ear... and with absolutely no warning...

.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

yell <font color=red>BOGGGIEESSSSS</font color=red> in your ear....

After you have cleaned the red wine from the recently painted white ceiling, you will assuredly find that they are nowhere to be seen......

Harumpph, Harumph, and double Harumph..../forums/images/icons/wink.gif

I see what you are saying - I guess both our statement are right. Its not the fault of the individual coppers though, is it. That's a bit like blaming the nurses for the state of the NHS. Its all the management and politicians above them..... sorry, going off on a political rant .... time to get on with my work.

It depends how much hasn't been completed during the week - its also better than political arguments on here - I hate them!

Anyway, as a general rule, only RObinson Crusoe could get all his work done by Friday.

Re: The Smog Monsters

of Middlesborough have, like much of the rest of the country, decorated the outside of their houses with lights and stuff. Somebody has written to 8 houses stating their negative opinion of the lighting effort. From the report the letters are not threatening or abusive and don't contain profanity BUT! Police are investigating and offence.

Are they confusing and offence with giving offence?
