80w solar panels

I have been monitoring the price of solar panels and have noticed a steady reduction in price over the last few months. This morning I noticed these on ebay. Too good to be true!!

I was looking at solar panels yesterday on Ebay, and for 250 pounds you could get these

Even comes with a tube of Sikoflex by the look of the add

.

Scam I'd say. It would cost ten quid at least to courier it - if the seller is making any profit that leaves a panel costing six quid. If it seems too good to be true.........

Happy to be proved wrong (as usual): I'll have three, then...

Edit: Just checked that listing again - says 160 sold since 17 Feb, but no feedback since 2006. Looks dubious. Also the usernames of a statistically unlikely number of buyers end in i or r

How would the scam work then? buy through e bay pay by paypal any problem money refunded, am I wrong?

No I think you're right. That's how it works from the buyers end, but for the scammer there is a period of a few days when the money is in their paypal account before people start complaining - maybe seven or eight days. Time to transfer the funds and leg it. I suspect the ebay account has been a sleeper - set up with a number of low value sales over a short period to get the feedback.

I don't know how they have managed to manipulate the 'purchase history' but it is very suspect. If you look at the only other item this 'seller' has for sale ( a sat dish) you'll see that the same buyers have bought both items on the same day. I suppose it's possible that both these items may appeal to some buyers, but taking all the evidence together.......

Time to alert EBAY

Bit early to notify ebay, thats not exactly proof. Seems a bit odd, but with reduction of government support for solar power not surprising somebody has a garage of them and looking to get rid.

Agreed it's not proof... just a number of unusual factors. Anyway if you do buy one as you're considering, I'd be very grateful if you could let me know what they're like- I need two!

No feedback last 12 months-warranty refers to 6 months for the "lamp", is this copied from another site-167 sold but no feedback is pretty strange. They may be genuine but from a faulty batch and yours may be ok. Probably worth a punt at 1/5th best other prices for similar panels, particularly with PayPal protection!
