Long shot, but does anyone know where I might be able to source those iconic vents that appeared on early Sunseekers? Usually a row of between 4 and 5 at the stern topsides made of white plastic allowing air through the hull into e/r. We lost a pair at sea at the weekend and need to replace. I do have one spare but not two... Someone was advertising stainless replacements on eBay last year but I didn't save details and now typically, unable to find anywhere - plastic or stainless! A contact tried factory and I've emailed Coastal Rides, but can't think of anywhere else that might have them? Last resort is son printing some on 3D printer, but unsure how successful that will be... Thanks :encouragement:

I had this problem on my Portofino 31.
Sat at work pondering how to solve the problem I rested my gaze on the plastic trim fitted to the office desk where they have a hole to pass cables through.
I removed one and took it home to measure and found that the dimensions were very very close to the Sunseeker originals.

Numbers 1 and 5 (left to right are the replacements).
Search Ebay for 'Desk cable tidy' or 'desk cable trim'
You have to check the sizes before ordering and on some I had to trim some plastic from the backside.

Thanks dpb, that's an interesting idea which I will look into. Will go to the boat on Friday and retrieve and measure one for dimensions etc. :encouragement:

R,

how are they held in place? No screws? how come you lost a couple?
Maybe you should remove them all, clean and reseat with new glue!

cheers

Hi Vas,

They appear to have just been held with sikaflex or similar. They didn't appear loose when I cleaned and polished, but I did polish fairly carefully as previous owner had re-painted the coloured stripes/bands and the colour runs when polishing! (That's a bigger job to sort at a later date). Never thought to push them to see if they'd pop out... I will now check the others, but may just get new fabricated in stainless.

Lesson learnt :ambivalence:

Cheers,

Robin

Hi - I have a possibility to source these. I have been searching high and low to find a fabricator and came across someone in Poole who has invested in the necessary. It is now possible to reproduce in 316 stainless.

Hi Stetra , I am trying to find 8 of these vents. Could you give me the details of the fabricator please?

If you are a Facebook user join the Sunseeker boats old and new group. There was a post recently about vents for a Mowhawk being made, could be used on other models perhaps? Screenshot_20210304-224935_Facebook.jpg
