80\'s Music

Might not be to everyone's taste, but I've just booked my ticket and mooring for the 1980s Rewind Festival

On the meadow opposite Temple Island at Henley; rave it up to some pretty cheesey music during the day, then act your age with pipe and slippers (certain forum members only) in the comfort of your own vessel after dark.

Re: 80\'s Music

That looks great.
It also coincides with the ATYC Rally which is taking place on Fawley Meadow just about a mile upstream. You might expect some visitors!

Re: 80\'s Music

Afraid not, that wekeend I have to attend a wedding in Cumbria - shame, as I really enjoy the Henley Rally. And with an 80's concert down the way it would be even better.

Re: 80\'s Music

We will have to go bothering rr_123 then!
/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif we don't know them oh well - soon will /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

that's most of who was there - I think yours was the gold boat wasn't it? Sneaked in down the middle somewhere?

Re: 80\'s Music

I like Gold, mostly it gets called "orange". Easy to find in a marina though (c;

Yes, I sneaked in under the cover of a self generated smoke screen, moored up opposite Andrew on Jedi, then had to do some pretty nifty ropework as it transpired that I had taken the ONLY berth that had a resident returning after me that evening...

Huge amounts of luck produced a smooth manoeuvre that looked totally planned...

Cracking evening, had to leave early, but had a very pleasant trip back down to the Staines Massif, hoping that there will be a similar event this year and am planning on having a bit more time so that I'm not last in and first out (ok, second)

Re: 80\'s Music

I think that the 80's weekend is the weekend before the ATYC rally. Anyone confirm /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Re: 80\'s Music

Yes Emma you are correct, the Ralley is actually over the Bank Holiday which this year has the Bank Holiday Monday actually on the 31st. Well spotted.
So we COULD go down and annoy Rob!

Could be fun /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Oi, I resemble that remark!

Mooring costs, £150 for a 10m boat for possible access to a water point, smacks of someone who can see you coming from a long way off. But the do looks good, mmm, used to have a real thing about Kim Wilde:-)

a deliberately vague and generic description which, I fear, covers many of us (c:

I though the mooring was a bit of a p155 take, £120 for Ali G from Friday to Monday, in fact the whole show is a bit on the pricey side for, lets face it, a bunch of has-beens, but I could theoretically split my mooring cost 5 ways, which starts to look ok, and it looks like a fairly unique musical event. and a good piss up.

I think there is a free car park, and it was only £15 to camp, but my old bones said "pay the money and take the boat", so will probably grab a few chums and make a little holiday out of it, mind you you could probably moor pretty close for cheap or free and still hear the music and get a feel for the atmosphere if you wanted!

I'll probably hang around Henners for a week or so afterwards, I will be going to a wedding nearby the following weekend, so would be good to see any forum-types turning up for the bank holiday weekend.

Nowhere's cheap to moor on Henley Reach theses days.
Let's hope we can get a few together at some point.
