8 strand cable for navman 3000 instruments - advice needed!

A previous owner in his enthusiasm to install a fishfinder has snipped through the cable to my 3100 multi log (and removed the ends) . I have short tails left on the log and need to find a length of suitable 8 strand cable to remake the connection to the instrument panel. Would a CAT5 type cable be OK for a short run- all I can find is thinner wire. Better still has anyone a couple of feet hanging around or know where I could get some?

cat5 would probably be ok for data connections, but probably not big enough for the power connections.

I've got some of that, but I think it's 10-core. Could double-up on power leads.

I have used similar cable for interconnections for a plotter. Most versions are rated at 1amp so capable of supplying many instruments.

Many thanks indeed. I shall keep looking for correct cable but think doubling up for power (for now) sounds sensible ( I thought this may be a reasonable idea before posting here so good to hear other's views). Better to have the log now rather than wait until correct cable is sourced I reckon- many thanks all!
